<image:title>About - EAL</image:title>
<image:caption>Equine-Assisted Learning (EAL) is an effective approach to human and leadership development through the eyes of the horse. It is a proactive approach to empowering the individual through group interactive exercises with a focus on “everyone matters”. Through carefully designed team exercises, the Equissori EAL programs use the horses natural herd instincts to provide participants with an opportunity to engage in team emphasized exercises and in turn find themselves learning valuable skills in a fun and exciting atmosphere while working through the dynamics of the horses. EAL can benefit everyone. No riding or previous horse experience is required; all exercises are done from the ground. EAL is an innovative approach that has proven to be the stimulus of respectful relationships and active involvement. It not only fits naturally into the process of developing strong leaders, it is a practical approach to teaching youth alternative skills to leverage when faced with difficult challenges and negative influences.</image:caption>

<image:title>About - The Social Herd</image:title>
<image:caption>What is Social-Emotional Learning? “What do we mean by social-emotional learning? Human beings are social creatures. That means in society, successfully interacting with other people is essential to the effective functioning of a community, a workplace and even a family. People need to know how to successfully interact with each other, establish and maintain positive relationships, feel and show empathy, understand and manage their emotions and set and achieve positive goals. Social-emotional learning improves children’s mental health and helps them avoid risky decisions, make healthy choices and stay drug free.” Paolo DeMaria Superintendent of Public Instruction, Ohio Department of Education</image:caption>

<image:title>About - Why Horses?</image:title>
<image:caption>You may be wondering what you could possibly learn from a horse?! EAL isn’t so much about the horse teaching you, it’s about helping you recognize opportunities for learning within yourself. Our horses provide instant, honest feedback when we work with them. When we learn how to communicate, lead and work effectively with a horse, we learn valuable skills that we can apply to all of our relationships. Horses are: Aware & Intuitive Masters of Teamwork Seek Leadership Respond Honestly</image:caption>

<image:caption>Owner/Educator/ Facilitator Cartier Farms Certified EAL Facilitator through the Dreamwinds EAL Certification. Dream it. I love horses. It started when I was a young girl as a shared passion with my grandfather. My journey however, started with my first horse, Black, a 2 year old gelding, I bought at the tender age of 24. I had never had a horse, and he had only been ridden for 2 weeks, YIKES! Needless to say, we taught each other, A LOT. Both of us very green, we had some great challenges and victories throughout our time together. He was a wonderful friend to me for the next 27 years. I spent the majority of my working life as a high school teacher and saw first hand the changes and challenges in society. Equissori began 25 years ago as a dream: to be of service to others using my very special horse, Sparky. He taught me valuable lessons like being a good partner and a good friend. Sparky was a blessing to me for 23 years. He "saved" me so many times when life threw me curve balls. He inspired Equissori and helped to rehabilitate Lady, one of our mares who suffered a life of abuse and neglect prior to coming to the *Red Horse Farm* and is now one of our best horse "teachers". EAL is a fantastic way to blend my education background and lifetime learning from my horses and share them with you.</image:caption>

<image:caption>(Ages 12 and up) The Equissori Future Leaders Program is an Equine Assisted Learning Program (EAL) focused on developing today’s youth into tomorrow’s leaders through fun and engaging horseplay! We offer various formats to help young people build confidence and develop effective communication, leadership and team building skills. Using our horses as guides, students will focus on key learning objectives and are tasked to work with the horses and teammates to achieve their goals which we then link to their own experiences at school, home, and in the community. Non-verbal communication, assertiveness, creative thinking, leadership, responsibility, confidence and team work are several examples of the skills each participant will develop to help them recognize and demonstrate exemplary leadership qualities. Our programs can be customized to align with your current areas of study, and bringing an experiential learning element to your curriculum to enhance learning.</image:caption>

<image:title>Programs - Mindfullness</image:title>
<image:caption>Horse Guided Meditation What is Horse-guided Meditation? Horse-guided Meditation is a meditation method that is practiced in the presence of one or more horses. Initially, when I started my meditation practice, I was not able to get to a quiet place within myself to become ‘still’ and remain aware. One winter evening, I decided to sit quietly in the barn with my horses while they ate supper. I was not prepared for what actually happened. Horses by their nature are always in the moment and with the rhythm of their breath and chewing guided me to stillness. Evening feedings became my practice of meditation, and learning the intuitive nature of the horse. My intention for this program, is that it will be a focused form of meditation, the horse serving as the focal point, instead of a candle, for example. Horse or horses facilitate meditation passively, connectiing with participants in a gentle, kind, way. Join us!</image:caption>
